Justin Riley
Music: My
introduction to music began at a very early age, compliments of my parents.
There was always something playing on the stereo at home, usually ‘70s rock –
which is still one of two of my main listening genres. I
began playing music, with the trumpet, at age nine. I played in school bands,
symphonic wind ensembles, church orchestras, brass quintets, marching bands, pep
bands, and various jazz bands, continuing into college. Jazz band, however,
seemed to be where I found my niche. I delved continually deeper into jazz and
then blues – which is the second of my main listening genres. I am very much
enjoying playing in Loose Shoes as all of our selections are from those two
categories. And, after being away from playing for a few years, I had certainly
forgotten how much fun it could be to play in a band. I am very thankful to
this group for the opportunity to play and have fun again.
